V C Cooke is once again proud to be sponsoring two environmental awards as part of this years Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce awards, which will be presented at the annual awards ceremony to be held at Potters Holiday Park, Hopton on Thursday 1st December 2011.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals and schools across the Waveney area to showus their green streak. Protecting the environment has always been an important issue of oursand what better way to acknowledge our future green ambassadors than to reward them for their environmental contributions.
From recycling cans and paper, to energy conservation and travel to school schemes, if youhave a ''green'' strategy in place, or have built a plan that you intend to implement over thecoming twelve months, we want to hear from you. Entries are welcome from all young individuals and schools in the area.

Young Environmentalist of the Year
The Young Environmentalist of the Year Award recognizes the contributions made by youngpeople to protect and care for our environment. This award is open to anyone under the ageof 18, living or working within the awards area. This may include specific involvement withinan environmentally friendly school/college project.
We are looking for nominations for young persons who may be
Working on a community project
Involved in waste recycling or community clean ups
Taking part in energy saving initiatives or green strategies
Raising awareness about climate change or other green issues
These are just some examples of areas in which the nominee may be involved. We would welcome nominations for any persons who have actively and enthusiastically promoted environmental issues in our area.
Best Environmental School/College
This award is open to both primary and secondary schools within the awards area that educates and involves students in environmental activities resulting in an increased awareness and concern for our environment.
What has your school been doing to protect the environment? Show how your school has improved awareness of environmental issues. Tell us about any environmental policies currently in place and long-term plans to develop these? What practices are currently in force within your school to protect the environment?
This award also recognizes both Colleges who have made an outstanding contribution toward providing students and groups with environmental activities and programs throughout the academic year. This award is open to Colleges within the awards area that will be assessed on what they do to protect the environment and on the quality of environmental education they provide to students.
