In addition to this we donated £500 to the Beccles Business Association as a contribution for the celebrity "switching on" by Katy Manning.
Community Partnerships
Following recommendations from Beccles Business Association, Waveney economic regeneration team and a director of The Community Forum social enterprise group VC Cooke were invited to speak at the Waveney Rural Summit 22 October 2010.
Our remit was to discuss "contributing to the rural economy through green iniatives"
The successful day brought commerce, local government and charities together to better understand the benefits of working more closely to improve Quality of Life in this beautiful part of the country.
We enjoyed contributing to this event and have arranged a further meeting to extend our support
Be Safe Be Seen
'Be Safe Be Seen' is a high profile community campaign to keep local children safe on the roads. Over 900 are killed or injured each year in the UK. The figures rise during the dark winter months.
'Be Safe Be Seen' aims to reduce accidents by providing school children with free reflective stickers thus giving greater visibility when walking to and from school. Children love stickers and plaster them accross their bikes, bags and coats. Parents are given some peace of mind that their kids are safe.
'Be Safe Be Seen' is dominating The Beach radio station for an 8 week period. VC Cooke are the sole sponsor of this project by funding 20,000 reflective stickers which are to be distributed via listener requests and visits to local schools and clubs.
