Environmental School Award Winners
Best Environmental Schools Awards 2010

The Winners
Congratulations to Ellingham VC Primary and Denes High School for demonstrating excellent environmental practices, winning first prizes in the "V C Cooke Best Environmental Primary and High Schools Awards 2010". Trophies were presented at the Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce Awards celebration on December 2nd at Potters of Hopton.
Both schools impressed the judges with the broad range of environmental initiatives that are evolving to raise students eco-awareness.
Children at Ellingham have undertaken projects including recycling, low carbon energy management, hen care and garden club. Most notably older students are learning and passing on their skills to younger ones.
Students at Denes High have also created a culture of energy efficiency. Pupils continue to involve the community, winning hearts and minds in the promotion of sustainable energy. Their on-site wind turbine "Centurion" has been an excellent case study in the benefits of investing in renewable energy.
